Terms of Service for Duelo

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Duelo ("the App," "Service," "we," "our," or "us"), a multiplayer head-to-head games platform that includes Crossword Chaos, Word Chaser, Cluster Clash, Cipher Storm, Path Pursuit, Connect Four, Sudoku, Bomb Pass, Trapdoor Panic, Queens, and any future games we add, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

A note about our brand: Duelo was previously released as "Crossword Chaos," and then as "WordKO." If you installed either of those, it is the same app and the same account — your progress and these Terms have carried over.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Duelo. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App.

3. Account, Sign-In, and Username

3.1 Sign-In Methods

Duelo supports the following sign-in methods, any of which creates an account on our service:

Guest (anonymous) sign-in — your account is tied to your device.
Google Sign-In — using your Google account.
Sign in with Apple — using your Apple ID, with optional private email relay.

You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials of any account you use to sign in to Duelo and for all activity under your account.

3.2 Username Reservation

Each username is unique and reserved to one account at a time.
We may remove or change inappropriate usernames at our discretion.
A released username may not be immediately available to other users.

3.3 Username Guidelines

You agree not to choose a username that:

Is offensive, vulgar, hateful, or harassing
Impersonates another person, brand, or entity
Infringes intellectual property rights
Contains personal information about you or others
Violates any applicable laws

4. Game Rules and Fair Play

4.1 Acceptable Use

You agree to:

Play fairly and honestly
Respect other players in match interactions, friend chat, and emoji reactions
Follow all in-game rules and guidelines
Complete matches you start (avoiding deliberate disconnects to manipulate results)
Not exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended behavior
Report any issues or violations you encounter

4.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

Cheat, hack, or use unauthorized modifications, automation, scripts, or bots
Use third-party software to gain a competitive advantage
Manipulate your skill rating, whether by deliberately losing, by coordinating results with another player, or by running multiple accounts against each other
Harass, threaten, abuse, or impersonate other players
Send abusive emoji or messages, or use the friend chat or in-game reactions to harm other players
Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the App
Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service
Violate any applicable laws or regulations

We may suspend or terminate accounts, void match results, remove leaderboard entries, or take other action in response to violations.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 App Content

All content in Duelo — including graphics, sounds, music, text, code, puzzles, clues, word lists, and game mechanics — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

5.2 User Content

By creating content in the App (including choosing a username and avatar emoji, and sending messages, emoji reactions, or other communications to other players), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, transmit, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Service — including delivering messages and reactions to the intended recipient and displaying your username and avatar to other players.

You retain ownership of your user content. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant the license above and that your content does not violate the rights of any third party.

5.3 Reporting Infringement

If you believe content in the App infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at support@keedastudios.com with the relevant details.

6. In-App Purchases

Every game in Duelo is free to play, and no purchase unlocks gameplay, opponents, or content. The App does offer an optional one-time purchase, Duelo Pro, in three tiers priced at approximately $4.99, $7.99, and $12.99. The tiers are identical in what they grant — the higher prices exist only so you can tip more if you want to. Pro removes advertisements and unlocks cosmetic items.

There are no subscriptions. Duelo Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. Nothing auto-renews.
All purchases are processed by your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) and are subject to their terms. We never handle your payment details.
Purchases are final and non-refundable except as required by law or by your app-store provider's refund policy. Refund requests go to Apple or Google, not to us.
Prices vary by region, are shown in your local currency before you confirm, and may change.
Duelo Pro is tied to your app-store account. You can restore it on a new device from the paywall screen or from Settings.
We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage entitlements. See our Privacy Policy for what that involves.

If we ever introduce a subscription, we will present its terms — price, billing period, and cancellation method — before you can complete a transaction.

7. Advertisements

The App displays non-personalized advertisements provided by Google AdMob to keep the App free.

Consent Requirements: Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before we share device advertising identifiers. iOS users are also presented with the system-level App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. You may accept or decline; you can change your choice from Settings or your device's privacy controls.
Non-Personalized Ads: We do not serve personalized or targeted ads based on your interests or browsing history. All ads are non-personalized and based on context only.
Ad Formats: Banner ads, interstitial ads at natural breakpoints (with a frequency cap), and (potentially in the future) optional rewarded ads.
Removing Ads: The optional Duelo Pro purchase described in Section 6 removes advertisements. Everything else in the App remains free either way — no game, opponent, or feature is behind the purchase.
Third-Party Content: We are not responsible for the content of advertisements or any third-party websites linked from them.

8. Multiplayer, Friends, and Communications

8.1 Ways to Play

Duelo supports four formats: Versus (both players racing the same board in real time), Turns (alternating moves on one shared board), Co-op (both players solving one board on the same side), and Battle Anytime (one player posts a result and the other answers it later). Not every game supports every format, and the formats a given game offers are shown on that game's screen.

By participating in any of them, you agree that your username, avatar emoji, in-game actions, and match results will be visible to your opponent during and after the match.

8.2 Playing Strangers

Some ways of starting a game — Quick Battle, and Battle Anytime when you do not choose a specific friend — will match you with a player you have no existing connection to.

You should understand before you use those features that:

Your username and avatar emoji are shown to that player from the first match. Duelo does not place you behind a pseudonym or a masked identity. Choose a username you are comfortable showing to people outside your friend list.
Being matched with someone does not make them a friend and does not give them your contact details. They cannot send you chat messages, which are only available between friends. During a live match either side can send the same preset emoji reactions that are available in any match.
Competitive results against strangers affect your skill rating for that game. Co-operative games are unrated.
The conduct rules in Section 4 apply to matches against strangers exactly as they apply to matches against friends.

8.3 Friend Connections

A friend connection is automatically created between you and another player when you complete a private 1-on-1 match together — that is, a match you started by inviting them. Matches against strangers do not create one.

Friends can view each other's username, avatar, online presence, and head-to-head statistics, and can send each other challenges and messages. You can remove a friend connection yourself at any time from that friend's action sheet in the app; removal applies to both sides.

8.4 Communications

Messages and emoji reactions you send to friends or in live matches are visible to the recipient and are stored on our servers. We may review communications for safety, fraud prevention, and policy enforcement, and may remove or restrict communications that violate these Terms.

9. Notifications

By enabling push notifications, you authorize us to send you two kinds of notification.

Match activity, triggered by another player: friend requests, challenge invites, someone taking an open seat in a game you created, rematch requests, and your turn arriving in a turn-based game.

Reminders, sent by us: a reminder that a game is waiting for you, notices about changes to these Terms or our Privacy Policy, and occasional product news. Reminders are timed to your own time zone and are not sent overnight in your local time.

You may turn reminders off while keeping match activity, from in-app Settings. You may disable notifications entirely from in-app Settings or your device's system settings.

10. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect and use your information.

11. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

11.1 Service Availability

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

11.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

11.3 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us, our affiliates, and our service providers harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your user content, or your use of the App.

12. Modifications and Termination

12.1 Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will notify you through the App (including via an in-app re-acceptance dialog) or through other reasonable means. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12.2 Changes to the App

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App, any of its games, or any features at any time without notice.

12.3 Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without notice, for any reason — including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time and request account deletion via Settings.

13. Dispute Resolution

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13.2 Arbitration

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law.

13.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration, except where prohibited by law.

14. General Provisions

14.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.

14.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.

14.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not be considered a waiver of those rights.

14.4 Assignment

We may assign or transfer these Terms; you may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent.

16. Additional Terms for Specific Platforms

16.1 Apple App Store

If you download the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
Apple is not responsible for any product warranties.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability or consumer-protection claims.
Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

16.2 Google Play Store

If you download the App from Google Play, you agree to Google's Terms of Service in addition to these Terms.

17. Acknowledgment

BY USING DUELO, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SERVICE.
